Kedarnath forms a major part of the Char Dham Yatra which is considered mandatory and sacred for the Hindus. Located in Uttarakhand, the spectacular views of the mountains and the divine aura of the place is what attract most tourists from all over the world. If you are on an India tour, visiting the various tourists’ spots in Kedarnath is a must.

Starting from religious places to mountain ranges, sources of rivers to the serene environment, Kedarnath is the place when you want to spend a calm, serene and yet an adventurous holiday. Here are a few places that you should mandatorily cover when you are in kedarnath.

Kedarnath Temple

Often known as a popular Hindu pilgrimage spot, Kedarnath Temple forms a major part of the Chhota Chardham yatra. Located in Rudraprayag amongst the snow clad mountains, this temple is not only visited by lakhs of pilgrims but also by every tourist who visits Uttarakhand because of its surrounding beauty. Set among the Garhwal Himalayan Range, with the Mandakini river flowing down in rage, this temple radiates a splendid aura which is difficult to describe in words. Originally built by the Pandavas, this temple has been rebuilt by Adi Sankaracharya and is a must watch if you are on your India tour!

Chandrashila Trek

If you are in love with adventure, the Chopta Chandrashila trek has been designed for you. Devarivatal Lake located at an altitude of 2600m. Enjoy the sensual path with Rhododendrons covering your path. The weather, the surroundings and the thrill of trekking in the risky terrain provides you with an unforgettable experience which you would cherish throughout your life.

The trek ends with the Chandrashila top located at more than 4500 m altitude which provides you with a panoramic view of all the valleys below. Once you reach the top, you get to see the mesmerizing view of several peaks including NandaDevi, Nilkanth, Panchhuli and Kedarnath.

Kalpeshwar Temple

According to history, Kalpeshwar temple was built by the Pandavas who had come to seek Shiva who would forgive them for their crime of killing the Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war. Henceforth, Kalpeshwar temple stands to be the fifth temple that is to be visited when you are on a punch kedar pilgrimage. Apart from being sacred to the Hindus, this place has some unbelievable natural stone carvings which attract tourists from all over the world. The stones near the temple have naturally carved locks which are considered to be the locks of Shiva and it also comprises of the famous kalpavrikhshya which is known to have the power of fulfilling people’s dreams.

Vasuki Tal

Located at a distance of 8 km from Kedarnath, this is a huge lake with crystal clear water placed among the mesmerizing mountains of Kedarnath. The crystal clear water and the view of the rock columns under it along with the view of the famous Chaukhamba Peak is a major attraction for the tourists. Surrounded by some exotic bloom, vasuki tal is also believed to be a lake where Lord Vishnu bathed in ancient times and thus holds a great religious value for the Hindus.
