And with the growth, there arises  a need for investment bankers, who make it possible for the companies to raise capital and further expand their business. Investment bankers are at the helm of important deals between corporations. For this, an investment banking analyst must have updated knowledge of the capital market and a strong set of analytical skills and financial aptitude.

The investment banking career path requires an analyst to be highly ambitious, competitive, quantitative, and detail-oriented. The investment banker also needs to be polished and presentable to complete the deals smoothly. Usually, in investment banking career paths, associates are recruited directly from MBA colleges. Typically, even strong analysts also need to go to B-schools before being promoted. The role of investment banking requires extensive capital modeling and presentation skills, with a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals. MBA course becomes inevitable for a person who seeks an investment banking career path. 

Job Roles in Investment Banking Career Path

  • Analyst- it’s an entry-level position requiring a person to have 1-3 years of experience in the financial arena. 
  • Associate– After 3-5 years of experience, analysts are promoted to the role of associate. The associate is involved in forwarding ideas needed to find investors and onboarding clients. That’s why an MBA becomes necessary to get promoted to a higher position.

With ample experience at their hand, investors reach the top position of companies and become managing directors or partners infirm.

Eligibility criteria for MBA

MBA admission process is a detailed and elaborate one involving tests at both national and university levels. Not every university has the same MBA eligibility criteria admission for students’ intake, but generally, there are some basic steps to get admitted. Firstly, candidates should decide which stream they seek to build their career in; for example, for Investment banking, candidates have to choose subjects focusing on finance, operational management, business analytics.

Secondly, they have to fill out forms for entrance exams, which almost entirely have become an online process after the pandemic. The process to fill out forms is hassle-free. Candidates only need to fill out their basic details, upload their higher secondary, senior secondary, and graduation mark sheet and lastly, pay form fees. The whole process to apply for the entrance exam is easy and simple.

The next step is to appear for the exam and wait for the cutoff, usually out after a few days of the exam. Although top B- schools have very cut off, making them unapproachable to most national level test candidates, universities acknowledge this problem by opening doors to students by their independent admission process involving group discussion and personal interview. 

Any candidate from any stream background can pursue an MBA course across India, making it one of the most dynamic course offerings. MBA course aims to inculcate holistic knowledge of the industry that equips future leaders to run their organization efficiently. 

A minimum of 50% marks are required in graduation from any UGC or AICTE recognized university. Final year students in their last semester can also apply for admission into an MBA course.

*CAT *CMAT *MAT *XAT *ATMA 

These tests are held across multiple centers nationwide. Even if candidates cannot appear for these tests or have low scoring marks, they can still pursue MBA courses by going through a selection process held by colleges and universities independently. 

In the end, if a candidate wishes to enter a highly lucrative job market, he can easily go for two years MBA course; with such diverse eligibility criteria for an MBA, anybody can easily get admitted into an institution of his choice.
